👋 Welcome
Hello and welcome to Fluffy Shepherds — A Canadian Guide for Devoted Pet Parents of long-coated German Shepherds and rescue dogs.
I’m Jeffrey, a British Columbia–based dog advocate who specializes in long-haired German Shepherd health, senior rescue care, and Canadian pet resources.
🩺 I’m Not a Vet or a Trainer
I’m not a vet, a trainer — and I don’t play one on TV or social media either.
What I am is a British Columbia dog parent who’s been through nearly every challenge a long-coated German Shepherd (or senior rescue) can throw at you.
I’ve lived the 2 a.m. limps, the cancer diagnoses, the heartbreaking goodbyes, and the everyday decisions that come with loving a dog who depends on you completely.
Everything here comes from real experience, research, and lessons learned the hard way — so you don’t have to.
❤️ Why I Began This Journey
Why was Fluffy Shepherds created?
It started with Tia — my long-haired German Shepherd, my once-in-a-lifetime dog, and my shadow for nearly 9 years.
In July 2019, just two weeks after joining Wealthy Affiliate, Tia was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer). That single diagnosis changed everything.
When she passed, I was left holding the love, the grief, and the lessons — and I needed somewhere to put it all.
Fluffy Shepherds became that place:
-
A way to honour my pack — Tia, Bishop, Monty, Tanner, Mia, and all the others
-
A way to help other Canadian pet parents navigate the heartbreak, healing, and joy of rescue life
-
A way to turn loss into purpose — and maybe, heal a little along the way

🐶 Meet the Pack That Started It All
Who are the dogs (and cats) behind Fluffy Shepherds?
Fluffy Shepherds was built in honour of the incredible pets who’ve shared our home and hearts:
-
Tia – Long-haired German Shepherd, my once-in-a-lifetime companion and the heart of this site
-
Monty & Sassy – Tabby cat siblings with big personalities who taught every Shepherd the rules of the house
-
Bishop – Long-coated blond German Shepherd mix, a cancer warrior with a golden heart
-
Genessa & Nikita – Bernese Mountain Dogs who brought healing, laughter, and loyalty in the hardest years
-
Tanner – Our 15-year-old mixed breed rescue, the quiet rock of the house who’s learned — and grown — into himself thanks to every German Shepherd we’ve adopted, beginning with Tia. They lead, he follows.
-
Mia – Senior long-haired tri-colour German Shepherd, fierce, wise, and currently navigating her own breast cancer battle with courage
Each one’s full rescue story is shared on the [Meet the Pack] page — real Canadian adoption stories filled with resilience, love, and lessons learned.
